Additional Information | Talfourd was a judge, member of Parliament, man of letters - he was a friend of most of the writers of his day. Lamb referred to him as 'my only friend'. Dickens, in gratitude for Talfourd's support, dedicated Pickwick Papers to him. Although a distinguished critic and biographer, he is best remembered for his tragedies, of which the most important was 'Ion'. |
