April 1795 (endorsement in hand of Larpent). Compared to the Songs, Choruses, &c., in Jack of Newbury, 1795 (Kemble-Devonshire Collection 258) some songs in the manuscript were not printed. John Payne Collier in his copy of Biographia Dramatica: [referring to entry in Biographia Dramatica] states 'It was not originally so concluded: the copy sent to the licenser had merely a finale and afterwards the intention being changed what was called 'a Hymeneal Pageant' was substituted'. Both were among Larpent's manuscripts. |
