Document Description Original libretto written by Giovanni Ambrogio Migliavacca and music composed by Johann Adolph Hasse. It was first performed in Dresden in 1753 and an application for it's performance in London was submitted by Vanneschi, Francesco in 1758. Set in 16th Century Turkey, the plot follows Solimano the Turkish Grand Sultan and Padishah of the Ottoman Empire who arrests his son for treason.
