Document Description | Three part Oratoria composed by George Frideric Handel. The story is based on that of Susanna of the Book of Daniel in the Bible. Susanna is held up as the model wife until her husband goes away, and two Elders try to force her into sexual promiscuity. When she refuses they make false accusations against her and she is sentenced to death. However, their lies are exposed by the young prophet Daniel and she is saved. |
