Document Description Manuscript opera in Italian. Isabella and Duke Bertandon are happily married but the villainous Ormondo is in love with Isabelle. Out of spite, as she rejects his advances, he secures a man to capture her and cast her adrift at sea. She is rescued by a local miner called Tarabotto and ten years pass with her disguised as his niece. The action of the piece follows what happens, when after ten years the Duke is due to visit the mines, and Isabella reveals her true identity to her rescuer who vows to help her. Ormondo recognises her as plots to kidnap her once more but before his plan can be fulfilled he is unmasked and her identity revealed before the Duke, who still loves her.
