Document Description Produced as 'Montoni; or, The Phantom' on the 3rd of May. An adaptation of 'The Mysteries of Udolpho' by Ann Radcliffe though the plot differs considerably. An Italian Baron has murdered his brother in order to take the family fortune. His partner in crime threatens to expose his guilt if he does not give him his daughter's hand in marriage. The castle is haunted by a phantom, which manifests to be the Baron himself, sleepwalking and rambling through his guilt.
