Document Description A Caliph, hearing the woes of a poor cobbler who is about to loose his love for lack of money and friends, comes up with a cunning plan to help him secure both. He promotes the cobbler to the powerful rank of Vizier, and all sorts of relations suddenly appear, bearing gifts to prove their loyalty. Once the Vizier has gained a handsome fortune in gifts, the Caliph fires him, and he returns to be a cobbler, now happy, living with his love off of the profits of the gifts.
