Additional Information John Payne Collier notes in his 'Biographia Dramatica' that 'The entry in Larpents List regarding this play is as follows "Man of the World, from the Little Theatre Haymarket. Manager S. Foote. This piece was refused the licence in 1770." Afterwards we have these entries -- "Man of the World from Covent Garden. Author Macklin. Manager T. Harris -- The licence refused -- 1779", "Man of the World from Covent Garden -- Author Macklin -- licence allowed 1781". In 1779 there was a correspondence on the Subject between Macklin & Lord Hertford.
