Document Description Antigonus Gonatas, King of Macedon, is betrothed to Berenice, Princess of Egypt. She and his son Prince Demetrius are in love, and overpowered with jealousy, Antigonus banishes Demetrius. Outraged by Antigonus' betrothal to Berenice, Alexander, King of Epirus, invades Macedon and takes Antigonus prisoner. Demetrius rescues his father who rewards him with Berenice's hand in marriage.
