Document Description | Originally submitted to Garrick for Drury Lane but was repeatedly rejected. With the patronage of Lord Chesterfield it was accepted by John Rich for the Covent Garden Theatre which, at this time, was unfashionable. In the end it was a great success and is thought to have turned to tide of fashion towards the Covent Garden Theatre. |
